Not all years of OEM swingarms are the same. 87-88 had the carrier mounted outside the swingarm ears with washers welded on the outside of the upper swingarm ears. 89 and newer had the carrier mounted inside the swingarm with washers welded to the inside of the upper swingarm ears. The inside dimension between the ears on the 87-88 is 4 3/4". Outside dimension to the outside of the washers is 5 1/2". If someone wants to post dimensions for a newer swingarm, that would be great. Also, 89 and newer had the rear ends of the rectangle tube flattened out. Don't know if that's necessary for sprocket and brake hub clearance. 1st pic is 87-88. 2nd pic is 89 and newer.
