bansheedemon
i need to buy some rear tires for my wheeler and i dont know what to get. i have usef itp holeshot hds mostly and like them but they are spendy. i was wondering if there was a better tire or more bang for the buck anyways. i do some trail riding but mostly play in the sand and redrock. i do some open field riding as well. most of the terrain in riding is hard and is rocky. any input would be great. like tire wear, traction, and durability too. locogato11283
For regular riding the Ohtsu MR501 are better. I have run them both.

bansheedemon
i thought they did alright besides the tread ware. but way over priced. although thats all i have ever used though. everything i buy around here has holeshoys on it. bansheedemon
i was looking at the kenda claws i think too. that are reversible for different types of terrain. and. i liked the tread pattern. i like kenda tires. they seem good and reasonably priced. how much were those? locogato11283
Tires are funny. I have run every tire in this thread cut and un-cut. I know which ones hook best each way, but I'm not telling... Just kidding.. Kenda - Last forever but don't hook quite as hard unless they're cut. ITP - Junk. Maxxis - Junk. Ohtsu MR501 - Great overall tire. Run them as they are. Ambush CST - Decent tire. Cut out every other row and they are the hardest hooking tires I've ever used. You've got to remember, cutting tires is ONLY good for going in a straight line!

bansheedemon
and im sorry if this is a dumb question but what does cutting imply?
locogato11283
Here are my 22" cut CST Ambush.. I cut every other row out for maximum straight line traction. You DO NOT want to cut tires for trails..
