Surfrjag
I know a guy tunning one its faster than stock.. If it was me i would go ported stock cylinders or cub.. or ported cub. Or ported serval!
JAGeSage
Athena's have a bad name for the banshee's I dont like them personally. Have it bored and ported. Port will make a hell of alot of difference with a 65 mm bore.
BANSHEE HP
how so? i bought literally the first athena. not to run but to compared to the cylinders they copied poorly (vitos). i wrote this in 2009 on another forum when i got them: the description of the piston is wrong they are NOT forged moly coated pistons, they ARE a o.e.m. style(68mm though) CAST piston with a cheap tin coating. the intakes are too short to accept a stock reed cage. the larger water jackets that are mentioned are actually to small to use a stock water jacket plug and the kit doesn't supply any plugs so theres no way to keep this cylinder from leaking. the left cylinder has egg shaped intake bolt holes with threads only on the top portion of the screw cavity, intake bolts will thread in by hand but id bet they would strip if a allen wrench was used and they were tighten. back to the bore and piston, because of the piston they use and the triple ports its going to be short circuiting like crazy. the stock looking head with domes looks pretty good except that the domes are different then pro-design,vitos,modquad,noss etc. etc., they were 24cc also. theres alot more i could say about these but i'll stop here, if you want to pm me we could talk more. JAGeSage
Boring Does plenty for you With the right port work, more displacement, more fuel, more air, and if you have domes, higher compression. It's all with what you do with the extras.
Nightmare
Doesn't boring only add power on a 4 stroke? Sent from my SGH-T679 using Tapatalk

trickedcarbine
Will a simple over bore make more power? No. Is it worth hogging your stock cylinder out to the max? No. Is it even worth doing big bore sleeves in a stock cylinder? No. The only way going after displacement is cost effective and reliable on a banshee is if you step in to a true aftermarket cylinder with several millimeters of bore difference. Those cylinders are typically cast around the larger bore so the port work works with it as well. Not to mention they will also do it with out constantly leaking coolant like a stock cylinder would with a big bore. Don't get me wrong, there are ways to make big bore stock cylinders work, but at this point with the aftermarket we have it's just archaic. JAGeSage
I agree but if you're after Economy more so than performance, there are limitations.

JAGeSage
That means if you don't have the money to spend 2 grand on a new motor kit, a bore job, port and polish and some Vf reeds will make a big difference
JAGeSage
you don't do a port n polish on a 2-stroke, over boring is a waste. but +14 timing will make you more power. Are you kidding me? You don't port and polish a 2 stroke? Whatever you're smoking, please share.
