joewest
I have a stock motor just has fmf pipes. Gotta get a filter soon also. I have been doin some research on milled heads and ported cylinders. If i get my stock head milled .030 over and get my cylinders ported for the trails and advance my timing +4 can i still run 93 octane? What else would i need to do to run these mods? Im gonna get vf4 reeds also. Would my bike still be reliable?
xjmav
Imo I would get a head with changeable domes like a cool head. It gives the ability to change out domes and get diffrent compression ratios. Then if your not happy or having issues with pump gas, you just buy a set of domes instead of a new head. Also when you start upping HP, a welded crank is a pretty good idea. Also need to do jetting.
joewest
Yea im planning on getting the crank welded. Thinking about sending it to redline along with the cylinders. Cool head will also help keep the motor cool correct? I mainly ride trails so i plan on getting a oversized radiator too.
joewest
Ok thanks. That would really wake my motor up right? Any of ideas of upgrades i could do and still keep it on pump gas?
01banch
Call Cameron at redline. He builds sweet motors and will tell you what he thinks is the best way to set it up. He can even set up the domes or head for whatever gas you want to run.

joewest
How much was the port job and the cool head? Does it try to over heat? I ride alot of trails.
joewest
U run stock carbs?
Jereme6655
I think the port job was right around $300....but don't quote me on that....id have to look for the receipts. The cool head I picked up on here from a member for $100........you can usually find some from quality sellers for cheap in the for sale section. Never had an overheat problem with the bike.....and I ride trails too. and yes I run stock carbs.
