Banshee Porting DIY

BLOODRAGE

i like you tube. its fun and informative.  there are a TON of video's on machining and using metal lathe's.  i have literally watched and then practiced about 25+ hours of video's off of youtube....  those have helped me a lot in a short time to get better with my little lathe...   i'm in no way shape or form a "machinist"  but i can do the things i need to do.  also a LOT of great video's about welding and using welders for differnt things. ( check out welding tips and tricks .com)  he uses youtube for posting video's....

pipes do really neato things in all reality...   but thats a whole nother thread.  and i'm sure if we actually got to talk about that concept there would be a ton of bullshit involved in that also.

Had to go back through to see what I may have missed. That blue cylinder has poped up before during DIY porting threads. I believe it was done as a joke, or someone was an uneducated fucktard.

You make $50 an hour and the guy making $75 spanks your measly paycheck and sad ass banshee, what do you make of that?

Why is it an overseas member ports their stuff and gets acolades, but if you're here you're treated as a fucktard? Double standard.

Tricked Carbine mentioned (in another thread) of several "builder" motors that didn't perform up to standards, but nothing was said of that. Why so?

WHO on this forum actually holds a record, etc? 2nd. place is only the first place loser.

No matter what you have, how much you spent, no matter who built it, there will ALWAYS be someone faster.

I enjoy MY hobby the way I chose, and if you don't like it, O well.

who cares what other people say/think?  if you wanna send it to someone who has ported hundreds of motors, do it! if you wanna try it yourself, do it!

I am very happy with the way both my topends run I have had many conversations with people as to what will and wont work so I was ahead of the game as far as trial and error.. but in no way was it cheaper than sending it off to someone, the time it takes and tooling is more than the 250-600 for porting

would my setup be better if someone else did it?? maybe so but as it is right now after its first trip it will hold its own with the guys I ride with so I was more than happy.. I will be trying a few more things with my domes and I want to actully tune it in I'm sure there is a good amount of power still there.

bottom line if you think you will save money dont waste your time

if your afraid you will wreck a set of cyl dont do it cause there is a good chance you will

the only reason to do it is if you enjoy it and want to have the satisfaction knowing you did it.. bottom line

everyone knows its overall cheaper to send it to someone, they people that are wanting to do there own porting arent wanting to save money, they are wanting to say "I ported the cylinders"

Not true in my case. I ported my own cylinders to save $. I already have all the port tooling that I need to get it done. I shop around on every single part that I need and find the best deal out there. I have to be careful of how much I spend.

I have always done my own port work.. You don't need to go radical on them to get power... Start out small (i.e casting clean up, knife edge transfer ports, and intake bridges, polish the exhaust port to a mirror finish, make the main intake port rough, to keep the fuel air charge "tumbling" which keeps the fuel atomized.) If you want radical take it to someone who has done it more than once.. Cyls aren't cheap!...
