mhoksch
Just got done cutting my trans for my new build. I'm just doing a 4mil stock cyl so nothing super crazy. There's always the possibility of a serval next year tho. Wondering if anyone has had their trans cryo'd or if it'd be worth it. There's a local company that we send alot of stuff to for work so I can get a killer deal. Is it something I should do while it's out? Or just a waste of $? BUILDER
I have heard of people doing it but for your build or the serval I think it is a waste of money!

KozyHeat
I got the hint that it was more expensive than that. I hadn't heard about this sort of treatment until recently I seem to have read you have to pay for the rem finish per /oz? The finish they put on the gears and pieces is to make them hold oil better. Also - plan ahead. Don't get a crank cryo-remed and then welded and trued I would ask this dude too on this forum - sign up and pm him. He gets all his transmission components cryo-remed http://www.allthingsmoto.com/forums/f-235/cr500-engine-build-pictorial-part-2-a-50724/ http://www.allthingsmoto.com/forums/f-235/92-01-cr250-engine-build-45990/ http://www.allthingsmoto.com/forums/f-235/1993-honda-cr250-build-finally-finished-49621-p3/

trickedcarbine
The banshee transmissions are more or less surface hardened. So when you go machining it you are cutting away the hardened surface. Hence why so many guys have gotten in to Cryo Treatment. Mine is also a Croy Treated unit and I also do a lot of other motor parts. Is it worth it? Depends who you are. If you can get it done slipping it in on a big batch of other parts GO FOR IT! Because that tranny will be around when and if you do decide to go bigger. Cryo Treatment has way more benefits then most will ever comprehend. mhoksch
I've heard it is a bit pricey, but we throw a ton (literally) of work this guy's way. I guess if there's the possibility of a benefit and I don't really have to pay for much I might as well do it. Just kinda bummed I might have to wait a few more weeks to put my motor back together, the ice might be gone by the time I get it done.
