turbowrenchhead
I have a good set of yfz 450s fronts installed and I just bought a rear used PEP rebuild with a heavier spring from a board member. It showed up today and I put it in and took a measurement in the rear and I had 29 when I pulled it all the way up. It sagged one inch. When I sat on it I had 23. Too much. I cranked the spring down to the max and I ended up with 29" and 25" better but I was shooting for only 3 to 3/12 of travel. When I jumped up and down on the bike with my body weight (225 pds) just the rear was traveling, the front didn't budge. The fronts were already cranked down to max spring tension. I brought them back about 7/8" from the top of the treads or about 1/4 cranked down. At that point the normal sag is about 5". I get about 1" of travel from a relaxed stance to me sitting on it. I get just a little bit of travel in the front suspension but not much. It doesn't seem balanced to me. Any comments?
turbowrenchhead
Full flight +3+1 a arms. +4 swing arm. Stock yfz 450's on the front and a heavy spring rebuilt pep shock on the rear. Right now there are 21's on the front and 20's on the rear. I will be switching to 22's in the rear when I get to that point.

turbowrenchhead
Here are some measurements and pics. I do not have a second person here to take the measurement while I'm on it. I eye balled it best I could. When I'm on it I have 7 1/2 to the bottom of the frame by the exhaust. I have 8" to the bottom of the frame near the foot peg. The pics with the tape measure is with no one on it and in a sagged position. The rear doesn't sag at all while the front you can lift up 5 inches. turbowrenchhead
The board member that I bought the A arms off of said that yfz's will work on them. I had some more time to mess with it today. The first thing I noticed is the front tires were low. So I shot some air in them. I lost my low pressure gauge so I don't know how much is in them. That will certainly effect ride height. I also measured the thickness of the stock spring and the one I bought. The spring on the stock is 10.3mm. The one on the bike is 11.2mm. So it is a heavier spring. I took a look at where the compression and rebound adjustments were at. They both were cranked down to the max. I backed them off and have them at 1 1/2 turns from loose. I checked the rear and those were both loose. I cranked both of them down to max. Now when I jump test the bike it feels way way better. I will tighten the preload on the fronts my next chance. And then see if I should lessen the rear spring preload. I still have 4 inches of travel measured at the grab bar from a relaxed position to me sitting on it. I read somewhere that you want around 3 to 3 1/2 inches of travel in the rear and 2" in the front. I set my blaster up like this and it rides great. I heard from a friend that you want to have the front and rear ride heights within an inch from each other. Why do you want the front lower then the rear?
