ClayAiken
Alright so my seat must be dirty because my carbs leak out of the bottom overflows and I've tapped the carbs many times and bounced the bike around a lot so it wouldn't be a stuck float. I haven't got in there yet but I'm figuring that my seat is dirty so the point is where do i buy a needle and seat or do i buy a whole carb rebuild kit? Its only my right carb that leaks but if the price isn't insane I'm going to do both carbs while I'm there and give them a good clean. So where can i get a needle and seat from? sheerider11
Try a q tip with tooth paste first. Cleans out a lot of shit.
Starwriter
I don't even screw around trying the toothpaste Q tip thing. I just replace the needle and seat when they leak. You can buy the needle and seat from your local Yamaha dealer or buy a complete rebuild kit from FAST. The price is about the same either way. hoppedupandcutdown
I've had the sides of the needle varnish and stick, a quick soak in carb cleaner, and scrape with a finger nail, and been fine after that. although I do usually go with - if you're in there, put in new parts. HolySheet
I don't soak the needles because the rubber tip can swell up. I usually pull the needle and wipe it gently with a Q Tip soaked in brake clean. Then scrape with a toothpick. For the seat I cut a Q Tip is half and put it in my drill with some carb cleaner on it. trickedcarbine
Have you even tried to see if the float is adjusted properly? Sometimes the little tab that the needle and seat connect to with the wire clip tend to come out of alignment. If it is it could be letting the float sit at the wrong height which lets the needle and seat keep flowing fuel
