Colby
make sure pilot jets arent plugged.. spray some starting fluid into carbs (NOT MUCH).. if it starts, your not getting fuel.. if your using the stock carbs, make sure the little peice of tubing is between the two, make sure cdi is good

Finch
compression test?
Jraz
Had a rattle in old flywheel and was getting a backfire with it. Now with a new one I'm not even getting that. Wiring is a mess but has always ran. Fresh rebuild! Passed leak down.
spurdy
With good compression , fuel, air and spark is all that is needed to run. If you you actually have spark the wiring is correct. If it was a kill switch, key switch, or tors you wouldn't get spark. It is a logical troubleshooting process. SP
Jraz
Has an intermittent spark
Jraz
How crazy is this though. My on, off switch never worked before only the lights. Would run no matter where the switch was positioned
spurdy
How crazy is this though. My on, off switch never worked before only the lights. Would run no matter where the switch was positioned That's likely nothing more than a dirty set of contacts inside the housing. The contacts for the run stop need to be open to run. When they are closed it grounds the ignition signal and no more spark. Intermittent spark is usually a mis adjusted pickup. SP
WaynokaBanshee
Does it have gas in it?
Jraz
Yep, got fuel. Lol. Gap set at .016. At this point I'm leaning toward a bad cdi. Problem started when my stator rattled loose and got damaged from the flywheel. So I replaced the stator, flywheel and ignition coil. Weird how easily the new flywheel comes off the crank. My woodruff key is worn some, but other than that., its sparks totally random.
Jraz
Don't know if it matters, running a 4 mill. Compression is 140. And Definetly getting gas.
Starwriter
Where did you get the stator? Please don't tell me it's a Ricky stator. Hint: Maybe the replacement stator is bad.
Jraz
Yep, I did. I checked it with an ohm meter, had resistance but was too lazy/ agrivated to reference to wht clymer book said
HolySheet
TORS? Also pickup coil gap should be .18 - .
