bansheesandrider
Well I had to order a chain last time from the yamaha dealership. they said the SE had the Oring and the others didn't. I didn't have the cash for o ring so i got a reg one. Why are you buying chain from a dealer, especially one that has their head stuck in their ass? As I said before, all Banshees came with an O Ring chain from the factory, at least in the USA. I have known enough people that bought new banshees that I have seen almost every year(USA) in both the regular and Special/Limited Editions and every one of them had an O Ring chain. I think your dealership was just trying to make sure that they sold you a chain no matter what!
06BCBANSHEE
because I was in a bind. I usually order everything online, or through sponsors. But my chain was fucked the day before i was going to my cabin. So I couldn't wait a week or so for a chain to be shipped to my house. so unfortunatley i paid like $100 for a chain. believe me I was not happy about buying from the dealership. Uf21
I seen this bit of advice "The following is my opinion, I've heard a few others but this method is time proven for me: If you don't want to get all that sludge back on the chain, quit using chain lube or wax. These products hold dirt that is abrasive and will wear out your chain/srockets in no time. When done riding, first rinse off the dirt and mud with a garden hose, DO NOT USE HIGH PRESSURE ON THE O-RING CHAIN. Let it dry and use WD-40 to finish cleaning and protect from corrosion. The last chain I bought for my sport-bike was an RK and that was their advice for cleaning (except the garden hose 'cause you don't get mud on the street bike). That was 22,000 miles ago, and it should be good for another 5,000." Why is there so many mixed answers about WD40? On the WD40 site it says its safe to use on rubber but so many people say dont use it on rubber.
Uf21
Looks like kerosene is the best to use on chains. Would it be smart not to lube the chain if im riding in dusty and muddy conditions cause I see people say they never lube their chains. rjdgriff
Chainsaw bar and chain lube FTW!!!
hoppedupandcutdown
o-ring chains come with the lube inside the rings, that's why they shouldn't be power washed. After a ride and a wash I wipe mine with a oily rag to keep it from rusting while sitting, then wipe it with a dry rag before riding again. HolySheet
I use Husqvarna bar and chain oil mixed with some tranny fluid. Works great. As for cleaning I just spray it off with a hose then wipe it down thoroughly.
