BLASTERMAN11
im guessing it was just wore the fuck out, im pretty sure it was an 02 and those were the factory pistions, funny thing is it was still running when we tore it apart but it was starting to have overheating issues. left side had 90psi didn't check the right
Jereme6655
just pulled my buddies bike apart the other day because his dropped a cylinder. His piston looked ALMOST identical....however you could blatantly see that it was from wear. his pistons got so sloppy that the piston managed to cock itself a little and snap the crown on the exhaust port of the cylinder. dozer
Looks leaned the fuck out, that would be causing it to run hot also
BLASTERMAN11
only had the overheating problem the last time it was rode, before that it was being ridden every weekend with no problems
dozer
Then most likely an air leak or carb problem . That piston is melted not just wore out.
dozer
If you look at the piston you can see the area the ring goes in gets wider toward the damaged area. That means the piston got hot enough for the aluminum to move. If the piston would have been cold it wouldve just cracked off. You can probably see some of the melted piston in the exhaust. Starwriter
Too late now, but you should have done a leakdown test before you tore it apart. So at this point, unless you can visibly see why it leaned out, you have 3 choices. 1) Rebuild the top end and hope and pray 2) Rebuild the top end, do a leakdown test and then tear it back apart to fix what ever is leaking 3) Split the cases and reseal the whole motor and then do a leakdown test.
BLASTERMAN11
no shit, the front of the piston is chewed up from the cylinder. it is now egg shaped from being ran to long like that and will take atleast 2 bores to clean them up.
