Pastrykiller
My 421 cub is a stock cast with 20cc domes on vp110 @ 32:1. Elevation is 1000 ft Issue 1. Does it really matter if you use the brass idle screw versus the plastic. I think my slides are chromed but does it really matter? Pilot jet is a 48 Main is a 158 Needle cel middle clip. Air screw is 1.5 turns out Issue 2: Carb are synced with the tool and I am pulling a vacuum of 8 on both carbs. Shit just doesn't want to idle worth a shit. Engine has no air leaks Suggestions? mstealth22
Here you are. http://www.ebay.com/itm/KEIHIN-BILLET-STAINLESS-STEEL-IDLE-SCREWS-DRAG-RACING-HILLSHOOTER-BANSHEE-/160955474463?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2579b1a21f&vxp=mtr $30 seems steep for two screws....But getting a flathead in to adjust the right side is always a pain. Anyone use these, are they big enough to use fingers? When I busted the plastic screws I just went with the brass ones. I just ordered a set anyway. Pastrykiller
The plastic ones are junk. What a shitty design. I like the billet idea

mstealth22
As for idle issue I'm not sure I can be much help. ....but for some confirmation I'm running a 421 Serval and 35 PWKs. Same jetting, 48 pilot, CEL needle, 158 main, and mine idles well. I'm at <1000 feet. I did have to crank in the idle screws till you could see the slides actually crack open a bit, then I adjusted them down from there while running. When you say it idles bad, what does that mean? SAVAGE420
I use the metal screws with my 35's. Easy to turn with your fingers and springs on them. $10 I think they were for both.
SAVAGE420
http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=119 I also use the taller tops and the lighter springs. I cut and stretched my stock springs before and they are ok, but the ones here pull a bit lighter. Good luck.
Tedder
$30.00 is steep. Jeff (FAST) has them for $5.00 each plus shipping
Pastrykiller
I will buy the metal ones and see if i can get it to idle better. It might have been that it just wouldn't raise the slides enough to smooth it out.
possum
Take your filters off and see if the slides move up when you run them in. To see if thats even the problem. And double check it by holding the throttle cracked to see if it idles and how high the slides are. If the idle screws wont raise them at all or enough. 04zSpittinKlotz
have you took the bowls off and cleaned the pilots?
Pastrykiller
All of the internal parts of the carbs have been replaced with genuine parts. Honestly I think the problem is with the idle screws. What vacuum should the carbs pull once they are synced?
sleeper06
I have had to trimm the spring on the idle screws in some cases.i have also had many bikes sent my way that wouldn't idle with screw turned all the way in and ended up needing smaller pilots, sometimes you can mask a pilot issue by jacking the slides up high
