New Build - Advise needed

Hey,

In the process of doing a 421 serval and starting to slowly build a pile of parts. For those that are experienced Banshee rebuilders what should I be replacing while the motor is apart. I see things like water pump bearings, idler gear bushings and so one. Should I just replace as needed or are there some ones you always replace? My motor is not that old or have that much wear but I dont plan on pulling it apart again for some time.

thanks

Get a modded trans in there. Pancake bearing, port match cases, billet impeller and gear by mull, billet basket, fast clutch. I don't know what you have already but my main one is a cut trans. My 4 mil stock cylinder has a hard time shifting. I've gone though 3 stock transmissions and all the same. Get it cut

Just go to the FAST web page and go through the entire OEM parts section and get every nut, washer, beating, seal, and special bolt or tab known to man. Do every single shift mod you can find on here and cut your trans FOR SURE! Weld your crank. Beef up the clutch and get your self a lock up. Some say you don't really need it but you will be right on the edge, and it's nice to be able to run lighter springs and still have a clutch that doesn't slip. Do the Billit water pump, I'm still skeptical of the Billit gear thing though. But I guess if you got the dough. Do the idler bushing and new snap ring.

Also a few months ago I started an engine assembly tips and tricks thread. Give it a read http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=152239&hl=

Check the techical info section, i have a bottom end assembly walkthrough in there that might help you decide what to replace. Any time i do a bottom end i try to replace the folowing:

Flywheel key

Water pump o-ring

PTO gear lock washer

Clutch nut lock washer

Both crank seals

Output shaft seal

Idler gear shim, washer, and snap-ring

Shift segment adjustment cam bolt & lock washer

Clutch arm spring, seal and washer

Bead-blast your cases

Get a shift pro kit

Do the shift star mod

Dont forget to grease your clutch rod and ball

Side-cut your gears if you have enough time/money

Do the shift shaft mod

Put 2nd bearing on the end of the shift drum

Port match your top case
