trickedcarbine
Also, for the dome work. You might need to just get the Athena domes machined. There are a few good tuners out there in Australia who do a lot of RZ/RD work. Look on the RZ350 forums and they are pretty active
2wheelturned4
would there be enough meat in there for the standard ones to be cut? i really know fuck all about machining and porting and that side of things... what exactly would need to be done to them? 2wheelturned4
After speaking with an engine builder here in oz (rz motors mainly) we have came to the conclusion that with my pick up gap being so far out and my bike running way to rich, this has caused detonation which has in turn caused the pistons to break. He seems to think that with it missing down low it has allowed the engine to somewhat gather fuel, then when it has picked up the revs it has kind of hydraulic loaded the pistons up causing excess compression, mixed with the excess fuel and caused major detonation. Im a little sceptical but could see how this would work. Would anyone else agree with this theory? And he does a few of these athena kits and agrees the cast pistons that come with it are shit but never has he seen this. I will try again to load the pics
KozyHeat
If you need to bore it - go oem pistons and run them tight but within clearances... then if you mess up you can always hone + go with forged
2wheelturned4
Its a 68mm athena set up kozy, no need to hone, bike was only just run it, not a mark in it yet... except for on the pistons of course!

2wheelturned4
Check with these guys, in OZ http://www.twostrokeshop.com/ Steve from here is the guy that has given me the last bit of info... He only carrys the stock athena cast pistons to suit this set up too which as he explained are shit! Every thing i have heard suggests he knows what he is talking about and his info makes sense, just rather get as much input as possible before i rebuild and blow another motor!
