grpark20
Let's say I'm going to start a 2 year shee project and want to do the engine first...Once the engine is 100% and sitting on a stand how long could I let it sit before any negative affects happen. During assemble I'd use assembly lube and 2-stroke oil to properly lube everything so I don't burn up seals on first start. While it's sitting I'd put the crankcase oil in too. So what are your thoughts if this sat for a year or two?

MarineNYC
Lol. Where are u planning on keeping it? In a snowy field?
oldskool
I have never tried this on a two-stroke, but I have poured Marvel Mystery Oil in carbs to pickle a couple V8's. Just poured it in until they stopped running.
421alkybanshee
you should have no worries as long as its not sitting out in the elements
grpark20
Lol. Where are u planning on keeping it? In a snowy field? Believe it or not....in a glass case in my house. I'm in the military and plan on doing a long stent overseas. I still need to scratch my itch with the shee though. I plan to build a shee motor before I go overseas and build the rest of the shee when I get back. I expect to be gone anywhere from 3-8 years. Hence the original question... Jereme6655
youll be fine. if anything i may say just put the top end together dry and then pull the head off before firing it when you return....just to ensure you dont have a stuck ring from assembly lube. other than that they'll last almost indefinately. Paulie B
When I bought the motor for my Blaster back in 07' it had been sitting for 27 years still on standard bore with bearings and seals from the factory. Ran great for about a year untill I re-built it.

Hence the original question... Put the money in the glass case and do the build later. The technology in every sport grows, so choose your build later in life and take advantage of the options you have available to you then. If you built your motor 3-8 years ago....you wouldn't have even heard about Servals, V-4 reeds, Snipers, etc. Who knows....in 3-8 years the idea of building a bike around a stock frame might seem like a crazy idea. Hybrid frames might have become the norm by then...who knows.
Jereme6655
/\ Windy just made the best point so far. who knows where cp may take us or where another sponsor is gonna shine. hell for all we know we could be managing to pull real close to triple digits on pump fuels in 3-8 years from now. grpark20
Windy's response I can definitely respect. Knowing me though I'll build this shee within the next year before I ever go overseas. I'll build another when/if technology advances significantly. WINDYCITYJOHN400
Well.....take it from a guy who's 42.....life throws you curves. The things your SURE of, might not be what you as gung-ho over in a few years. When life hits you with the unexpected....it's easier to grab the pile of cash....then it is to try to liquidate a banshee to get some cash. Have the cash as your ready and waiting "down money". That way you can spend the next 3-8 years watching for a killer deal. When opportunity knocks with the deal of a lifetime....you'll be the kool cat with the cash FTW! I see nice bikes sell all the time for the same amount I have in my motor.....
