Tech AS
I'm going with 5th,6th gear pinion in the tyranny worn out ,it gave you a noise while hot tell tale sign, the idler gear would shred in many cases but is worth a look b4 tearing into it,good luck The noise was from the water pump impeller rubbing against the case. There were friction marks and the impeller shaft was slightly bent. Im assuming that it bent after the gear broke or it bent causing the gear to break. But after all that was replaced no more noise. Just the tranny issue. Since that is most likely the case, any one got a cheap tranny in good condition laying around they might sell me for cheap? badassbanshee479
did you find the little pin that holds the water pump gear on the water pump shaft? may have fallen out and got ground up in the tranny gears... if not sounds like others have mentioned... probably welded a gear to the shaft....
