domlav
Hi, I would like to know what do you guys think about the Athena 392cc cylinders kit. Many people seem to say they're no good. anybody tried them? what's wrong with them?? please note that my question is more about quality than performance, i mean i don't care if its not the most HP per $, i'm just looking for fair quality at good price. Bike usage = trail i plan to use the stock crank with stock carbs. Thanks for your advices.

dirtydownunder
whats the full athena kit worth ? you could buy a serval kit, if you want it for the trails, the serval is 396cc or 421cc depending on bore size and if you go stroker, or 392cc if you stay stock stroke. theres alot more support for the serval kit and room to improve if you want to port it later. stock carbs will also work well, as the small carb will give you some more grunt down low. i dont know what the quality is like from athena, i think one of the sponsors does athena stuff as well. ill try remember who it was

dirtydownunder
dam 700 is pretty cheap !!. if it were me, id find out what the domes are like (specs/ if they will work for you and the gas you wanna run) and id replace the pistons for forged units. the serval kit is way more, but will work out less in time. theyve been doing the athena kits for years, youd think theyd have them reliable/worth while by now. i wouldnt buy it tho. hit up brandon from wildcard, im not sure if he does athena, he probably does, he does everything else !! 800$ for the above serval kit is pretty good too, i paid more than that for just the cylinders. lms1977
I would not do the athena .. I would do the serval or ported stockers
Nieskes
I'm running the 68mm bore Athena's and for the price I paid I love them, they are drag ported by RDZ and are pretty bad ass. If you can get a good deal on them I would try them out. If you are spending the same amount as a cp product it might not be worth it. crazycracker520
I don't know how true it is but I heard that the plating isn't very good, that it flakes easy. I went with a cub my self. Don't get me wrong I've seen an Athena run but I think you get more for your money with cp ind. crazycracker
springer
personally, for a trail bike, i would just send your stock cyl in for some work. you can get decent power out of them if you do the whole setup with domes to match and everything. if you want more power that a 350 can support, do a 4 or 10 mil or something like that. i know that is getting into more money, but then, if you decide to upgrade later to a cub or something, you already have a solid bottom in. just my opinion of course. trickedcarbine
He asked about the cylinders, dumbass. Correction: he asked about the cylinder kit. Which means "kit". The pistons that come with it are GARBAGE!
