thekevin
When it gets cold I can kick and kick and it doesn't even try to start. The only thing I can do to get it started it to pull a plug out and heat it up with a lighter and then it fires right off.
bansheesandrider
Use the choke and/or rejet for colder weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jadleybray
Starting fluid is amazing!!
Hazzard Racing Customs
keep it in a heated garage LOL or you could rejet for the colder weather power jets make this a very easy job
trickedcarbine
Hmm, I'm lighting race fuel with out an issue. Make sure you have given it a proper jetting set up. And the little trick that RRL mentioned helps. Just a few ful slow kicks to get it to draw fuel in with the throttle pegged. Then let off and kick her over like normal. Worked on all my motors that way for ice racing. If not, get out the ether!
thekevin
Normally when it sits for a few days I kick it a couple of times with the switch off and then flip it on and it fires up on the first kick. I have no idea what jets are in it, I have only owned it for a few weeks. I guess it's time to take a look.
MarineNYC
Doesn't he want to check the jets anyway. If it is not jetted for the cold weather can't he blow his motor?
nastyracing
Ether wipes all the oil and Lubrication directly away when sprayed hence going lean. This is not a 4stroke and the only thing ether should be used for is blowing tires on. Go head spray In air box to start you will be blowing something else up. Coupelx
After pproperly jetting one thing ive found to help is kick it over a couple times with the switch off before starting.
trickedcarbine
Never thought of the starting fluid washing all the lube away, but I see tons of alky guys firing their bikes that way. Your concept makes sense, but it's how a lot of big names bypass the ol' kick and pray.
thekevin
Is carb cleaner as bad as ether. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
trickedcarbine
Carb cleaner is a definite NO. That stuff will blast any oil or grease right off any part it touches
thekevin
I picked up some pyroil starting fluid with top end lube and it just took a tiny bit in one carb and it started first kick. I am off work tomorrow afternoon and I am going to pull the carbs off and see what jets are in it and sync the carbs.
trickedcarbine
Good stuff right there.
answ3r
When properly jetted it should start first or second kick (usually second in cold weather).
