Ctown208
Picked up this bike, and it was used more on the flats from what I understand. I have a trip to glammis in Jan and I'd like to be prepared when I arrive. The bike is a Wheelman Chassis +10 front and +14 out the rear. Motor is 14 DM 650 CC K&T Performance motor with 45 lectrons, and Shearer DM pipes. Rider weight is 220ish I will need to have a set up for Smn, Dumont and glamis and St Anthonys. These are the places I will be hill shooting I'm sure there's lots of guys who can point me in the right direction.. Thanks in advance

Ctown208
Id try the setup that was on it when it came to you.... CLUELESS So run the same gearing up hill that was used to run the flats? I'm new to the big banshees but this would never work on my yfz's, hence why I made the thread. I understand I'm dealing with a whole lot more power.. Sorry just trying to learn the cheap way

banshee760
Text me ill help u out , but play with a 16 -43 dumont and glamis (if its graded ) 14 paddle either stagger or straight or 12 all depends on UR budget and on the setup it was , also for hill shooting , In my personal opinion , 14 padle straight kevlar, on probly a 16 /41 seems on bigger bikes a good starting point , i like the straight paddle (more top end power )

Thanks in advance I can only tell you what we ran at Glamis, Dumont & Armagosa. 443cc Cub on race gas in a stock frame, +8 arm, with a 220 lb. rider. 16/41 gearing with a 2.86 primary was the good set-up. We ran 22x11x8 12 paddle extremes & 14 paddle haulers, neither tire was enough. The extremes were proven wrong when put on a 300' track. We had switch to a 14 paddle Ripper for the track, but never had them on the hill. IMO, the Rippers are close to the right tire for both situations. I would think you would need more paddles than what we use.

BigRed350x
I run a 13-paddle hauler on a 10cub with +14 arm and +4 frame with 16x42 gearing and its not enough paddle coming out of the hole but perfect on the big end once you get moving. Hit up brandon at wildcard, he has a very very similar setup and he likes to hill shoot. He can get you as close as possible on your setup... Yeah see this what I'm used to, not enough out of the hole but killer on the big end.. Tires and gearing play a huge difference in the 4 stroke world.. Anyone ever run combos on these? m671054
You never gave us some key info on your current setup. What primaries are in it. What tires are on it or what do you hvae. And what gears are on it now. Any idea on hp and bike weight. Post these and you might get some real help. I would think a 71-77ro tire 12-14 paddle stags 17,18-43. Should run between 80-85mph on a good hill. Gear it and tire for the topend and tune the clutch and swingarm for the launch. I think a plus 14 is to long and will require to much tire to get it to leave right an ultimately slow you down up top. Let me know when youll be at smn. Id like to see how it works for you. Ctown208
Primaries are 2-5 straight cuts.. Paddles are 12 stag extremes 84ro 16-40 gearing.. 300lbs 155 hp +or - Thanks for the help
m671054
Primaries should be like 2.86, 2.68 2.52?. 2.36 Weight seems heavy are you sure or just ballparking. I think the main thing you need are new tires. Double check and repost primary ratio. Crank to clutch ratio if you didnt know.
Wildcardracing
Is this Zach Swords' bike? If so it should have decent domes for Glamis but you'll want to get an other set cut for your trips at higher elevations. You should be able to run the same domes at St. Anthony and sand mountain, and your current domes in Cali. As for gearing and tires I'd recommend 2.68 primaries with a selection of sprockets. Fronts from 16-17 and rears from 41-44. This should give you a gearing selection to work in all of your riding spots. At Sand Mtn NV and Sand Mtn UT ours has done well with 16/42 gearing and 78 RO 12 extremes. For your weight I'd probably tell you to look for some 74 RO 12 ext on an 8" rim. You should find this setup to be a very good starting point. Hope that helps. Brandon
