Paulie B
OK I bought this acorn nut head kit. Why because for no other reason then it looks good. It came with copper washers. At this point I've had the head off multiple times and the copper washers are starting to be a real PITA. They are compressed to the point of them binding with the head stud. The simple answer is just buy new ones but has anyone tried to anneal them?
n2otoofast4u
how tight are you tightening them? Ive found that if you go to the parts store and buy the HD ones that are thicker than the ones that come with the kit that they last forever and are easier to grab with fat fingers like mine
Paulie B
I do about 5 lbs over the stock torque rating. This is only because I believe the stock torque rating is weak and for well stock motors. I know anealing will make them expand but will it expand them around the hole in the middle of them? This is the confusiong part. Will heating them cause them to bind more with the head stud or not? I used to anneal my copper head gaskets on my dirtbikes back in the day when they got compressd with good results but they never binded with the studs. AKheathen
if they are still thick enough, just ream the centers real quick and be done.
