i got a 89 banshee it has a hod rods 4mil kit, .60 over, stock cylinders, carb spacers, red carb boots?, boysen reeds, airbox with no lid and k&n dual inlet filter, it has graydon proline pipes and silencers, stock carbs currently running a 260 main and 27.5 pilot stock needle on the middle position of 5.

as the story goes....i bought the bike running on 1 cylinder for $100 more or less. i took it home pulled off the carbs and found that the needle clip had fallen off and the needle was resting in the mainjet, it appeared to have cheap ebay bronze colored needles. I sourced stock silver needles and put them on the middle clip position. it had 300 mains and 27.5 pilots. I did a compression test about 125ish on each cylinder i put the bike back together and it fired up. I tried to ride it but it spit and sputtered so i called a buddy (another banshee owner) he told me to pull the airbox lid and see if it helped ran alot better and would hit the power band pretty good but then the power would fall off. so io droped down to a 290 jet and threw the lid back on. it spit and sputtered again so i pulled it back off it ran a little better but not much. i didnt do a plug chop cause my pipes make it really difficult to change the plugs but i did pull the plug and it was black and wet. I then put it 260 mains and it ran a little better but still cant put the airbox lid on what do you guys think jump down to a 240? im just really trying to tune in the top end for right now so i can do some hillclimbs without it dying on me....any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I plan on getting some mild port work done over the winter from f.a.s.t. and maybe a different carb set up let me know what you think....
