Cuts out at wide open

I have pink needles. They were in it when I bought it. The motor is stock and has boysen power reeds that I put in Saturday along with bigger main jets.

If I hold it half - 2/3 throttle and roll on to full it acts like its running out of gas and pops. I looked at a bunch of pics of jet kits and Vito's had one with pink needles and came with 310 and 320 main jets. I assume the needles came from this kit. I have them a notch or 2 higher than most directions say and I'm up to 330 mains and it still does it. Not as bad but it still feels week on the main jet.

Could all this be caused by the needles? I'm leaning toward the needles are just too fat at the bottom and not allowing the main jet circuit to work right.

The motor is tight and not pulling air but the reeds were junk and the carbs were so far off I don't see how it was running when I got it. It has been a head ache. If I could afford new carbs I would buy them.

I was having the same problem. No popping in my case tho. Just major hesitation at 3/4 to full throttle. i played with jetting and couldn't get it right. Once i put in the shop i was told that the plug caps were bad and that was more than likely my problem. I was getting other upgrades so I didn't feel too bad about not catching a simple fix. Check plugs wires, cap, spark plugs, and other electrical components. the needle shouldn't be ur problem at full throttle. Im sure someone would chime in to rule that out.

I bought a used coil that has stock caps. I don't know what year it came off of but it sparks really good. I don't gap my plugs. I had a banshee from 99 - 2004. I'd had a 500 and 250r before and the plugs came gapped right every time. The b8es plugs I've been buying seem like the gap is tighter than it used to be. Could that be the problem. I have great spark.
