Damage To Case From Rod Going Out, Bad?

Recommended Posts

Dad tore down his banshee and saw that the rod did some damage to the case when it went out, he took alot of the damage out with a wiz wheel already but just curious if the minor scoring would affect anything at all? i doubt it really would, were gonna try to clean it up a little more also, thanks.

Yea i figured it wouldnt be shit to worry about but i wanted to ask and hear people chime in just in case, im sure it technically throws off a few volume measurements and other things specially compared to the other side but i would guess it shouldnt actually effect anything.

The volume of the crankcase chamber is irrelevant anyway. You're only moving the volume of the displacement of the cylinder movement. Any roughness in the crankcase will cause a little turbulance helping to keep the fuel atomized.

serious? Where do you come up with this stuff? :Crybaby:

Crankcase volume does affect the performance of a motor. This little bit of damage won't hurt anything at all.

That's what I was trying to say without going into too much detail. The volume "pushed" from the downward motion of the piston "pulled" into the cylinder from the increase volume of the cylinder chamber is relative the the displacement volume of the cylinder. And this little bit of damage could be erased by roughing up the surface area of the crankcase which would assist in atomization of the fuel especially if the cases are port matched to eliminate heavy turbuance and increase flow.
