David2882
Bought a '96 banshee from a friend and replaced the rear brakes with new pads.. Now no what I try I cannot get the pads spread enough to fit over the caliper... I have tried putting a c-clamp on the piston to completely compress it and still cannot get it over the caliper.. Is there an adjustment on the parking brake to allow the pads to spread farther?? not sure what my problem is.... Thanks..

04zSpittinKlotz
I think you have to loosen the parking brake (locknut and bolt) and then compress the pads. I haven't done it in a while.... Then once on and brakes pumped back up, tighten the Pbrake bolt and then the locknut. They never stay set to work for very long.... 04zSpittinKlotz
Just seen your pic... You have the bolt out completely... I would think they would compress enough. Someone else might chime in
04zSpittinKlotz
Is the caliper sliding back and forth freely on the mount? (slide pins frozen)
David2882
the pads are sliding fine on the caliper if that is what you mean?....... even without the bolts in the caliper it is obvious that theres not enough space there to clear the rotor... 04zSpittinKlotz
No, the whole caliper should slide back and forth on little pins.... They hold the caliper to the mounting bracket, and the caliper can slide back and forth so it wears the pads evenly
Burke
Is there a reason that you still have your parking brake?... I know it's not your issue right now, but still.

Haha I was gonna mention that too, but mine's still on and I got a blockoff sitting on the bench. Ive never seen one actually work Mine worked when I adjusted it, but not when I actually was gonna use it ... Banshee Chad
Take the brake reservoir cap off. It'll allow the fluid to move back into the bottle.

If u do that be ready with smthn to catch it so it don't eat all the paint off everything.

Shouldn't be so full that it will overfill it.. its just allowing the fluid somewhere to go.
