johnny9429
hey guys im new to this forum and pretty new to banshees but i want to run a drag ported 350 with a 4 mill crank. Do the cases have to be trenched or anything like that?
Sandking
No trenching
johnny9429
so i would just have to install it and should it have a spacer plate under the cylinders or anything like that?
Starwriter
Read, read, read, it's all over this site, but the basics are no spacer plate, cylinders ported for 4mil, domes cut for 4 mil, #795 pistons for long rod crank.
dozer
skip the spacer and get some properly cut domes
Wildcard2
Depending on the portwork you could maybe have them adjuasted for a 4mil and then you will not need to run a spacer plate. Also there is an option of a short rod 4mil though that is not a very popular option. Do you have an aftermarket coolhead?
johnny9429
yeah its the vito's hemi head II. why is the short rod 4 mill not a popular option?
Jereme6655
The long rod crank is just like it says....it uses long rods. The theory behind this is that it helps with the longevity of the cylinders as the angle of the connecting rod to piston is decreased putting less side pressure on the piston to push on the cylinder wall. That being said I can't think of anyone that I have heard of saying "my top end wore out fast cause of my stock length connecting rods." There is also a supposed down and upside to the difference in rod lengths......the long rods are said to help longevity but SLIGHTLY decrease the quickness that the motor revs. However the stock rod crank is said to rev up quicker.....
