4wheeling
Hey everyone, I recently did a full tear down on my banshee to the frame for new paint and powdercoat. I didn't do anything to the motor except clean it up. Tonight I took the carbs off the motor to clean them and in the process took the caps and the slides out to clean everything better. NO TORES on this BTW.... I installed and clamped down the carbs in to the reed bodies and have easy access since the fuel tank is not in yet.... However when I position the slides in to the carbs and put them to the bottom then screw on the caps as soon as I pull on the throttle both slides come up and once they clear the idle screw they turn about 45 degrees or so .... Making it so when I let go of the throttle they do not seat back down to full closed... They just sit on the idle screw. What is casuing this? I have been beating my head up all night about this and can't figure out where the problem lies. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies! 04zSpittinKlotz
there are little "pins" on the sides of the carbs that push in. that is what the groove on the slides is supposed to slide on. push the pins back in (if they're there) and rotate slides until groove is on pin and they should drop correctly
4wheeling
Ok I see what you are talking about however mine are not far enough in to the carb body. Do I just screw them inward? Is there a specific adjustment they need to be at? Thanks for your help.
04zSpittinKlotz
i believe they just push in... no specific adjustment, just push and i think they click in
rjdgriff
DO NOT screw them in!!!!! Tap them straight forward or ur fucked
rjdgriff
If u screw them they will twist and at that point it's a ROYAL BITCH to get them back, I destroyed some stock carbs before cuz I tried to twist that
4wheeling
Ya I just tapped them in. one I tapped in too far, drags on the slide now. How the heck to move it out??
Hummer84
Do yourself a favor and throw them carbs in the trash and keep your eye out for some 28pwks in the for sale section. Reason I say that is the same shit was happening to me on one of my stock carbs. I tapped the dial in and it worked great for awhile, thought I had the problem solved, then I let someone else ride my banshee and the carb slide stuck @ WOT and the guy bailed off the bike and left it @ WOT till the motor blew. So now Im having to build another motor.
Spaz-spray
Mine just did the same thing the other day i had to push the pin back with a screw driver, then i put the slide in and put some JB weld on the pin and pushed it back in place, its held up so far, today I'm gonna go for a nice ride and see if it still holds up.
