emtbanshee
Ok so 4mil it is. It will prob take me through this winter to get this built since the wife and I are trying to have a baby and save some money. Ok next question is where do I start. What is the difference between a long rod 4 mil and a stock stroke 4 mil. What's the best application for my budget.
Colby
Ok so 4mil it is. It will prob take me through this winter to get this built since the wife and I are trying to have a baby and save some money. Ok next question is where do I start. What is the difference between a long rod 4 mil and a stock stroke 4 mil. What's the best application for my budget. Long Rod refers to the longer rod length (115mm is the usual, 110mm is stock) , takes some stress of the rotating assembly due to the pistons being angled less so they dont want to push so hard against the cylinder. much better for high rpm reliability.. same price.. will have to run 795 series wisecos w/ a long rod.. i would highly suggest it Edited October 17, 2012 by Colby

dunesovertrails
Ur a moron Sorry man just excited because my dad wants to do a 421 serval build on his bike this winter.
sprinklerman
Like ^^^ said depends on budget... You could build a 421 serval and get raped by everybody in drags and be a beast in trails as long as your swingarm wasnt too long, Or you could go with a 4 mil which would be sick too fixed! Nightmare
I've seen drag ported 350's on alky rape 421's all day. 1000 bucks will build a nice lil monster. And I can still trail ride.
emtbanshee
Ok so a little update. Got the motor torn apart and found etching on the piston that says 1.50mm. So is that a .60 over bore. Are the cylinders worth porting at this point.

trickedcarbine
Port them and if you like them enough nikasil them when it finally goes. Yeah it is expensive, but if you don't wanna buy new cylinders and port those, and change the whole set up again.....
emtbanshee
Sounds good. You can still see some cross hatching in the cylinders. Really getting pumped about this build. Prob gonna take all winter bit it will worth it.

emtbanshee
I found a 4 mil kit on eBay that comes with a hot rods crank all seals and gaskets and pistons for $629.00. Is that a good deal? A 4 mil crank at fast is $429 alone
