badbanshee509
so i have installed new brake pads on my bike, i broke them in like the paper said by riding slow and and letting the pads wear in, how ever after brake in period, it seem like after the pads get heated, i can press the foot break lever almost al the way down to the ground and it feels like the rear breaks just dont have pressure, befor i can lock up my rear tires while pressing the rear brakes and now it feel like i don have none, do i have to adjust something on the rear brake caliper, i see a long screw on the end of the caliper with a spring connecting to the frame, do i adjust that or something else, please help Edited October 13, 2012 by badbanshee509
2strokeshees
Do you have brake fluid in it, try bleeding it, usually if it push's all the way down there is air in there and the fluid isnt getting to the caliper.
old put-put
Did you open the lines at anytime during the install? You could have a piece of dirt or something in the master cylinder or maybe just coincidence that the master needs rebuilt. The spring that goes to the caliper is a return for the parking brake and it only needs adjusted if the parking brake does not hold.
old put-put
Try bleeding the brakes just for s+g and see if there is any air in the lines.
badbanshee509
the only reason i didnt bleed it is because i only opened up the rese cap so, and like i said befor when i first ride the bike the brakes are hard but after maybe 20 mins of hard riding is when it feel like its loosing pressure, i will try and bleed the linse to see if that helps but i dnt thank tha that can be the problem, i hoping it is that simple fix
dave5.0
How did u push the piston back in when u put the new pads in? Did u open the ressi then and possibly get air in it?
