rjdgriff
I have my wires and cables zip tied to safe spots, but I don't bother with all the other stuff.
rjdgriff
safety wire? you drilling holes in every bolt to put the safety wire in them? just use fucking loc-tite and tighten everything tight and you wouldn't have to worry about anything. thomas h.
Peg bolts good one! Lock tight is a option too, But you get what you work for If I drilled the hose clamp head for the air filter then that will stay put too
thomas h.
Wait, all this shit has fallen off your bike before? I get only a few chances to go to the dunes and I the more I prep the better the trip My brothers kicker top came off last trip and his exhaust bolt too
rjdgriff
Just make sure everything is tight and if your that paranoid just go get a bunch of lock washers. I ride my shee like its a 4poke, I ride it LOTS and I ride it HARD and on some very very rough ground. I never have any problems. The only thing I have ever lost the strap I use to hold a water bottle in place.
bansheesandrider
Iuse either blue or red Loctite on EVERY fastener on my bikes, along with using a torque wrench to tighten EVERTHING to the Proper torque. Since I started doing this i have never had a bolt come loose or something fall off because of it. Most bolts come loose or breask because they were not tightened to the proper torque. dave5.0
If I drilled the hose clamp head for the air filter then that will stay put too Seriously? I've been goin on 20 years on this junk. I've got a couple extra kickers and a few of the other specialty parts that I carry just in case. Had to use them once or twice. But safety wire is way overkill on these things. Red loctite on all that stuff will be more than adequate and also make u bust off a few bolt heads trying to get it back apart. Except that filter clamp, better safety wire that one. Can't really loctite a hose clamp.
thomas h.
Just make sure everything is tight and if your that paranoid..... Paranoid, thats what you read on my post? Thanks for the input everyone. I'm not going to wire every thing just posted stuff I thought up. Oil plug is top of my list along with everything you carry spares of. If I have to walk out of glamis because I only put locktite I going to be... Tired by the time I get back to camp. I'm going to safety wire my tow rope now (jk)
rjdgriff
ya that is what we are reading, you don't need to safety wire anything. just tighten it. Yup
