Buckwheat
I run it with 21cc domes @ sea level. No problems.
Nightmare
My builder told me something about av gas being heavy. This was a long time ago so I don't exactly remember what he said but I think it was that av gas doesn't flow like gas or alcohol. Idk, that's all I got:ph34r: Sent from my SGH-T679 using Tapatalk

I have used it for over 20 years with no issues. The shelf life is outstanding too.
jmillertime1148
Thank you for the info. You here so many different opinions I just wanted to hear yay or nay from people on the site. Very much appreciated. I'm going to Florence in mid November with a group of about 30-40 guys. I am the lone wolf in the bunch everybody else rides 4pokes lol. Last year was my first time riding with these guys so I caught a little shit from some of the guys about my bike not being a "mans" bike. I answered back when we lined up though lol. There were only 5 bikes out of the group that could beat me. this year i am hoping that I will be top dog!!

I've got both. 4 pokes are way more user friendly. I think it takes way more marbles to ride a banshee. Especially a built one.
erock1911
If ur at 170 compression up then u need a higher octane, what i do its mix 50/50 AV & 91 pump 'non ethanol my opinion is strait av is a waste its av low led is acually putting a slight protective coting in there as well, 91 pump believe it or not has quicker throttle response! Mix 50/50 saves u a little $ and it runs Great!
jmillertime1148
What about vp 110? I know it's quite a bit more expensive but is it a better choice over av gas or are they pretty much equal?
ATVridinMaNiAc
AV gas is perfectly fine depending on your application and how much compression you need to achieve alot of guys will come over to the civilian side of the airport by our base where i work and they will buy it and use it in alot of shit, some places will ask you for a tail number though, if so just make something up they just need it to enter into forms. There is quite a few different types of AV fuels out there but 100/130 greens and 100 blues are probably what most people use as alot of the other shit isnt in use anymore. Main differences is that av fuel is setup at a certain density for determining weight and balance and the vapor pressure is different to help prevent vapor lock at different altitudes, also they contain different amounts of lead, but when used in something like a banshee alot of that shit doesn't really come into play, thats mainly all i can tell you about it since i rarely deal with the shit im mostly around jet-a and jp-8. I know it's quite a bit more expensive but is it a better choice over av gas or are they pretty much equal? 100LL AV gas has the same octane and VP 100 if they were to rate AV gas the same way they rate auto fuel. You can usually swap back and forth from AV to VP110 without even needing a jet change. If you can get AV gas, use it! It has more lead than the race gas and that is a better lubricant and protective properties. Plus it's cheaper.
jmillertime1148
Thanks again for the info guys. I'm going to a new builder and got a little nervous when he told me I could use av gas. Wasn't sure about that and made me nervous about him working on my bike. I feel better about it now. It will be nice to have a good builder that knows his stuff close to my home town. He says he does port work as well. I will probably have him do my jugs sometime in he next year. I will put an update after I get my current work done and let u guys know how it runs just in case there is anybody else on here from Washington state that would like to find a good builder a little closer to home. jmillertime1148
It's good to hear that others are using it and have been for some time now with out any issues. The guys name is Scott. He has a shop in Richland called quad pros. He's done some work on a couple friends four strokes and they were very pleased with the work an they continue to be reliable and run great. Thanks again for all the great feedback.
