blackshee555
The exact same thing happened to me. If you are running 160 psi then you should really consider adjusted the timing back to 0. My problem was I had purchased an aftermarket CDI and I advanced my timing to +4, what I didn't realize is that the CDI also advanced my timing +4 so I was running a +8 and that was causing the issue on my right cylinder, I burned a hole in 2 pistons before I figured this out. If you dont have an aftermarket CDI I would suggest that you go back to 0 on your timing because truthfully +4 makes a small difference. If you really want to smoke your buddies and dont have alot of cash, go get your jugs ported. the best bang for your buck in my opinion, I haven't lost yet and its been 2 years. So here's the problem ive been having since i had the motor rebuilt . detonation on the right side , so here what is done to the bike . 4 mill ,dune port , +4 timing ,k&n pods , fmf sst pipes ,stock carbs , 350 mains ,27.5 pilot , needle middle clip , sea level ,22cc domes ,160 psi ,.035-.038 squish , leak down test is good . Ive put brand new fuel lines ,brand new plugs ,fresh gas but cant figure it out. i gotta get this bike working correctly . any input would be apreciated thx

mopar1rules
Yeah +4 timing seems to works best with stock head and lower comp ratio. Once you start improving head dome profile and increasing comp ratio, then stock "0" timing seems the best. The +4 helps low end but you will notice your top end suffer some. Jaystre
piston sticks out of cylinder 0.081 inch or 2.06 mm ... is this about right for a 4 mill?
