Kendro
I recently bought a set 4 mil stock cylinders that were ported for use with alky. I want to switch them to gas and was told that the transfers were to high to run gas. Is this possible? If so please tell me why. I dont have any specs on them yet and am very new to Banshees. I know on our cars that we can run gas or alky with out any difference in head work so I am confused. My thinking is they could be lowered by using thinner base gaskets if needed. Any help will be appreciated.
BANSHEE HP
whoever told you this is stupid, if they are the ones selling you the cylinders id just pass on them. who knows what else "could" be wrong on them

Kendro
I have seen the cylinders in action, I darg race with him and he runs 4.20's on alky 300 FT in sand and they are pretty fresh cylinders. I can't figure any way it would matter what fuel your burning as long as squish, jetting, dome size etc. are done accordingly.

possum
if the tranfers are to high to run gas. that probably means that it needs alky to run to its potential. and will be a bit sluggish on bottom end with pump gas. but no reason why u cant run whatever fuel u want. imo u need to check the durations and what domes ur running. i would probably run race gas if u can depending on the port it has and domes. but those 2 things will determine if it will run right and live. Kendro
Thanks Possum that is what I was looking for. I know it wont be as fast with out alky and I will probably run it that way someday just not right now. I am going to have domes custom cut and I know a builder in Odessa who told me the same thing you did and he is going to help me put the motor together and check port timing, duration and decide how to have the domes cut. RadarRacing
Maybe someone told him NOT to use those domes on gas but the transfers shouldnt really be alky specific. If it is very peaky lowering the transfers makes them more peaky sometimes as it raises the blowdown quite a bit which is the difference between when the exhaust port opens and the transfers opens. I would do domes and check it and run it.
