Toomey Banshee
What is the best clutch? Gonna put one in the next week or so, need some info on which is the best one. Also, is it a hard install? Thanx. 8)
ledofthezep
I can only speak for Barnett...only one other than stock I've tried. I got the dirt digger. Installation was nothing & it's been awesome so far. No problems, grabs great & shee pulls like no other! I've also heard good things about EBC & toomey clutches as well. badlarry
I have had my shee for 6 years, two of which it has been completely disassembled. I have gone through two top ends, and I'm on my third set of tires, but my toomey clutch which was in the bike when I bought it, (2 months old) is still cooking. Still not slipping. Toomey Banshee
hmmm, Toomey. I didnt even know they made a clutch kit. I'll probably go with the Toomey or the Barnett. Thanx for the help. 8)
gbf4ever
i have the ebc and it works great but if i were to buy a new clutch again id go with the direct drive lock up clutch system
glock221
Stay away from the Toomey. I had problems with it brand new right out of the box. Toomey warranteed the clutch 2 times. Still a hunk of shit. I bought a dirt digger, and it worked right the 1st try.
ledofthezep
Where did you guys order them from and how much $$$ I bought mine through the local stealership....$108.34 total  I looked all over online & most places were around 108-110 before shipping/taxes, etc...so I said WTF & went ahead and went through my stealer. I also talked them down to 350 on a LS axle too, but haven't ordered it yet. :?
Banchetta
I have the Duncan racing clutch. Going on 3 years now. PUlls as easy as stock. I thought the barnett pulled too hard and got arm pump when racing. I've seen other shees w/ the Barnett and they seem to pull easy on some and hard on others. Go figure...... sandman121383
i read old posts where ppl said they used different plates and fibers.they even went as far as giving part #'s. anyone still use custom clutch setups? i have a barnett but its just great no probs with it but i have heard of ppl puttin custom setups in.my 2 cents
BdBanshee
I also have the Barnett. Been in for 10 plus years with no problems. No slippage, but like others posted it does have a stiffer pull than some other kits. I tried different springs but started slipping it, so went back with the Barnetts. Have a friend with a ported Banshee with 35's and CPI's that tried a different kind of springs and they wouldn't hold the power, went with the Barnett's and no more slipping. Ron. rebelbanshee2
I have EBCs heavy duty race clutch. it has an extra set up plates and it is excellent. great feel, isnt excesivly heavy with a good cable and vitos lever. id recomend it
WickedBanshee
i dont like toomeys. they slip off the line. i guess if you dont drag that might not matter but when your lined up and rev it in 2nd they creep forward. BAD. my builder is starting to use barnett clutches w/ toomey springs. says its the best combination. my brother got a toomey then burnt it then got a barnett and burnt it and since his toomey lasted longer he got another one of them just for that reason. but he is hard on shizzel. i mean real hard. i think he is single handedly supporting our engine builder's family.
