hoppedupandcutdown
•Each ten-inch segment is 38 watts with a 3.3 amp draw at 12 volts. Rigid Industries E-Series LED Light Bar 10" Spot/Flood How long would this run with no charging system off of only a RC car battery? Or, battery recommendations, to get a couple hours between charges.
hoppedupandcutdown
Not long at all. Using a 10ah battery will give you just shy of 3 hours of usage. Thanks for the input, it would be better to do the DC conversion and run a smaller battery then, correct?
Dunes98
I just did the DC conversion, best thing I have done yet. I bought a set of Matts LED lights. They are bad ass!!

Dunes98
A 12V 1800 MAH Ni-MH. Sorry that took so long to get back to you. Been out of town for a week. I bought it on egay for $8.
okbeast
I bought a Rigid 6" bar for my 250r and it was awesome in the dunes. Plenty bright.
hoppedupandcutdown
So why would I need a battery and the floating ground? That light only needs 26 amps.
hoppedupandcutdown
do you mean watts or amps. because 26 amps is a lot. on the 12V banshee system, you are looking at 312watts. only any HID or good LED light system, you need a DC current. with some LED lights, all you need is a floating ground. with all HID systems, you need a battery. I asked Rigid Industries tech line and they replied 26amps, but downloading their catalog -it's watts. all the good it does to ask the people who sell it... I guess my question is can I hook that light up to the power and ground wire feeding my stock lights, (without my stock lights)
So Cal Suspension
with that light, you can just float the ground and not run a battery. but with a battery, you can run your lights when your quad is not running. a battery also helps out when idling and low rpms where it is not building up enough current/power for the lights and they might flicker or be dull. you have to float the ground though. it is very simple. and to add a battery is just as simple. there is a thread about how to do it that was just posted. Not true, entirely. LED lights will flicker at lower RPM's if you do not run a battery or capacitor of some sort. Just FYI.
guns4children
I'm sure glad I got my DC conversion kit from mattscss. Its saved me alot of time and at an almost free price you can't beat it.
So Cal Suspension
Read my last line in first paragraph. I said a battery will help with those issues. Hence the reason I said "entirely".
sheerider1026
If everyone knew how easy the dc conversion is, ac would be obsolete. You have all the resources to do this right here on hq. You are covered. Yes it works, and works well. I run hid's. 10ah battery, and a rewound 200w rs stator. When these hid's go bad ( if they do) im hittin matt up and guving the leds a try
Paulie B
I run a 1500 lumen LED with a battery. I didn't mess with modding the lighting coil to charge the battery. The main reason was the reality of the whole thing it isn't beneficial to my batteries (2 6000mah 7.2v stick packs) to charge them all the time while I'm riding. I run 27watts or 9 three watt cree's in one light. It's more then enough and people have complained about how bright it is. I've calculated the batteries to last around 3 hours. 3 hours is more then my fully fueled tank can last and I haven't ever rode that long at nite. Paulie B
Do you run those 2 packs in series for 14.4v ? Yep 14.4v's. The lights are good to 18v's.
