band1t
Hey all, I am looking to chrome some parts, and the platters offers difference types. he said they can do.. chrome Nickel plated chrome Ceramic Chrome silver plating and Metal Polishing So my question is which type of chrome can take a beating thanks Edited September 11, 2012 by band1t
RadarRacing
Basically just get chrome , the nickel isnt full chrome, ceramic will look dull if you polish it, polished aluminum looks good but dulls. CHROME.
5150banshee
Second that CHROME!!! Or triple plated chrome!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
hoppedupandcutdown
You don't want hard chrome, that's for hydraulic cylinder rods you don't want nickel, that's for fancy old wood stoves you DO want nickel-chrome also called decorative chrome, a layer of nickel for shine and then a layer of chrome for protection, the nickel also aids adhesion of the chrome. Triple chrome is best, being copper-nickel-chrome,also known as show chrome. But much more expensive.

hoppedupandcutdown
Ill ask the local shop about triple chrome. if he quotes me to high is there any shop out there thats worth shipping to?? triple for chrome is more for parts that need restored, thet use the coppper to fill in rust pits and deep scratches, that can't be polished out otherwise. Overboard for any banshee part, if it's that bad of shape just get another one. This is all nickel chrome plated, and looks perfect. But, yes talk to your chromer. they should have explained the options to you first anyway. This is all nickel chrome plated, and looks perfect. band1t
I want to have my stock swing arm plated but am limited on tools and dont feel shelling out 100 dollars to have some guy put it in a press and push a button. I am wondering can it be plated the bearing in the swing arm if I mask it off? Edited September 13, 2012 by band1t
Fastassbanshee96
You don't need a press for your swing arm. You should be able to just pound them out.
band1t
Ill give it a try I assume it doesn't matter if where the bearing goes gets platted or does it need to be plugged?
