answ3r
The do had a good bunch of low end punch, I can pick the front end up a lot more easily at lower rpm now.

WINDYCITYJOHN400
Some people use airbox lids to effect jetting. I can't say that I've ever heard of pipe swapping as a method. But I could see it working. However....I would think that if you have a good enough grasp of how pipes can effect your tune...it shouldn't be hard to learn how to simply change a jet. 04_blu_shee
Wow you guys have my head spinning. Im currently running VF3's and was really wanting to know if the VF4's are a better Reed. Im running a Dune Port bike gonna put a new set of CPI inframes on it Im courious how better the 4's would perfom if any than my 3's. From what I see, it looks that the 4's have more upper midrange power over the 3's so would it be noticed in my mild ported motor. Ive tore the motor completely down replacing the crank with a Hot Rods and like I said CPI pipes also. More power is what Im looking for and the Reed discussion makes me courious. I really dont know if the $200 VF4 is where I need to go.

I really dont know if the $200 VF4 is where I need to go. Your call. This dyno run shows around 7 more HP in that 7500-8000 range as well as 4 more peak HP. I don't know where your going to find power like that any cheaper. (Smaller motors will of course see smaller gains, but it's all relevant.) The 3's aren't junk and if you have them...you can just run them. But if your looking for more power, better throttle response, stronger overall power.....$200 ain't much as far as this sport goes. Besides...if your 3's are still good...sell them and the upgrade costs for the 4's get even cheaper.
SlowerThanYou
When we were building the DMX with K&T. We discussed the 4s vs. 3s for the motor. They didn't want to use them because of no experience with them. Have you had any dyno time with them in a DMX.

They didn't want to use them because of no experience with them. Have you had any dyno time with them in a DMX. No. But the design is a universal improvement over the 3's. The more power the motors made...the bigger the gains we saw. So I would think that a DMX would show significant improvements. If you can find 4's to fit your DMX application, I would try them. (Really if your talking about a DMX build.....$200 is peanuts.)

Alba Racing
Im a big supporter of stock reeds. On ported banshees I have seen stock reeds out perform aftermarket reeds time after time. On a non ported banshee you might see 1 hp. I would spend my reed money elsewhere. I have never tested the 4s but I assume there no different. Sounds like the latest gimick. I would like to test a set so I know for sure though.
Alba Racing
Stock reeds and cages. The stock setup works very good. On a built drag banshee im sure you can do better but for the average joe making less than 70 hp stock reeds work great.
