rkc
Just got my 2000 mostly stock banshee running after 4 years. This is what mods I have FMF fatties , some advance timing ( can't remember how much ) Cool head 20 cc, 4 yrs ago compression was 126. Vforce 3's, pro design air filter with air box cutout, cleaned stock 26mm carbs with longer needles ( CRS on brand ) 2nd notch from the top, 350 mains-plug color ok maybe a little dark. Slides are on the proper sides & in sync, choke tube in place. Here's the problem she starts fine no choke necessary. The left cylinder is not running (pipe stays cold) right cylinder runs good. If I pull the choke to the 1st notch the left cylinder fires up (pipe gets hot) and the right cylinder stops firing (mostly) shutting the choke off shuts down the left cylinder. There's plenty of spark on both sides. I have no ideas except maybe too rich main jet but, now I'm just drawing straws.

I would reccomend first and foremost do a compression test as I wont work on anything without doing one first .However it sounds like the carbs are in need of a more "thorough" cleaning .Also the reason pulling the choke out makes it run on the cyl is you add fuel to the cylinder that isnt running and it runs but the other cylinder is getting flooded by the extra fuel it does not need when you cleaned the carbs did you keep all the carb parts like the slides and float bowls on the same side they came off of ? as they are carb specific .I know you arent doing pipes right now but this link has good info on the carbs that will help look thru it it decribes the difference in float bowls and the slides their specs hope it helps out .http://www.toomey.com/phocadownload/install/tr6-kit-installation-instructions.pdf

I haven't check it yet, maybe tomorrow, but I didn't know about the bowl specific part and I'm hoping this is my affliction. It sounds like this could cause a problem that I'm having everything runs good except cylinders not in sync & 1st cylinder needs the choke to run. Slides are on the right sides and the carbs were stripped down too except I didn't know about choke side bowl having a jet in the bottom. Thank you also for the link, I'll read it.
