1CrazyBastard Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Well i just got a banshee a few weeks ago and it was running perfect so me in my infinite wisdom decided to get rid of the stock air box in favor of k & n filters .Since installing them I have not been able to get the bike dialed back in it idles fine sounds good most of the issue is mid range and top end the plugs seem to have a good color after wot pulls I currently have t 6 pipes on a stock banshee with newly installed k & n filters and tors elim kit and as I said the thing hasnt run properly since installing the filters and was perfect prior to removing the stock air box . Has anyone else had similar issues I spent all gd day jetting and re jetting should just k & n filters being instlalled cause such major issues I wouldnt think so but havent been able to get it dialed back in Quote

I raised it one positon yesterday and it didnt help but that was with 300 mains I came back and put them back in slot 4 and went down to 290 mains man this thing was 100 % perfect and now does not run good at all whats the chance I need to go two slots in the needles as I am gonna try that today ?? sure would like to get this thing dialed back in I literally spent my entire day off working on it and only riding I got to do was plug chop pulls Quote
Motooutcastxxx Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Something is definitely not right, it shouldn't be that difficult to jet for just pipes and pods. Did the jet kit come with new needles? If it did and you threw them in go back to the stock ones. Have the carbs somehow come out of sync? Is the choke tube connected? Are the float bowls on the right carbs? Slides in the right carbs facing the right way? Quote

1CrazyBastard Posted September 5, 2012 Author Report Posted September 5, 2012 Try bumping down on the main jet Well problem is I had the current jets while running a stock air box and it was fine now with just installing the k & n s it has run poorly since .I have tried alot of different mains from 280 -310 and have tried both 25 and 27.5 pilots it runs best with the jetting I started with 280/25 but still does not run excellent like it did before I started haha I must have another issue but have checked and re checked all sorts of shit i am gonna move the needles up a slot or two and seeing if it changes I have tried moving the needle once but ihave changed jets since and went back to slot 4 on the needles . hoppedupandcutdown Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 WERE you runnning a lid with your stock air box? If not you probably didn't need to change a thing. Did you oil the K&N's? Quote

Did you oil the K&N's? yes I had a lid on the stock air box and no I didnt oil the filters .The only reason I even tried to fatten it up was it didnt run right aftre the filter install .I have tried a lot of different jets and seems like they all look rich and I am beggining to think I should check my igniton system as I did wire in a kill lanyard while I was waiting on jets to arrive and seems to me like 280s were a little lean before so I ordered jets to fatten it up now after the new lanyard install and no matter what jets it looks rich I wonder if I now have an ignition issue and the jetting is spot on after all gonna look into it tomorow again after work Quote
Lowflyin Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 My banshee runs good with t6s , knn pods and reed spacer. 320 mains, 25 pilots, stock needle middle clip . I could prolly go up on pilot. And a tiny rich on top cause it's been hot lately Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

If you have the dynajet kit, if you are below 5000 ft, install clip in groove #4, top of needle is groove #1, if you are above 5000 ft, clip should be in groove #3, since you only have aftermarket exhaust and k+n filter put jet DPX280, make sure you are changing the main jett, turn the air screw in untill it seats then back it out 2 and a half turns. Did you reinstall the main jet cup? this must be put back in. These directions are straight from the k+n jet kit I installed on my bolt on bike and it works perfectly, GOOD LUCK, hope this helps.
