vitos superstock or wiseco?

Recommended Posts

My banshee is stock bore and im looking to rebuild it this fall before i ice race this winter. Do the superstock pistons really give u more horsepower? or would i be better off going with a set of wisecos? And would you guys recommend ordering oem gaskets and using them instid of aftermarket?

if you don't have any porting done the vito's piston will give you a little bit more, the vito's piston is forged by wiseco and vito does the machineing. I used to run them and liked them.

agreed. wiseco makes the piston and my bro in law used superstock pistons in his stock banshee and you could tell a difference.

So lets say after you install these pistons and then you get you're bike ported later would that kind of clash with eachother or anything having these pistons? or would they work fine?

No good. Vitos cuts the exhaust side so it opens sooner. Basically like raising the exhaust port. Now a good shop will have there personal port timings. And they do the exhaust, so if they raise it and you run the ss you're throwing there timings off and making your motor inefficient.

Good chance you're getting porting and will need to get bored/honed after.

Good porters will port anything, but if they have a preference, it's port than bore/hone, JUST IN CASE you have an uh oh moment and hit the cylinder, etc.

That being said...both are a good choice. Can anyone that used the SS pistons tell me they replaced good pistons with SS?

Afterall, if you had a worn set of pistons and rings and replaced them, it's going to run stronger regardless of the piston design...

Got me there. But I would say it ran harder then ever.

I took out good stock pistons and put in the vito's pistons and there was a very noticable gain.

Yeah, they are gaining 6-7 HP on a stock cylinder and are a great choice if you don't have the money to get porting + pistons.

Once you get the porting, you'll need Wiseco pistons at that point. But you probably won't get porting till your ready for the next rebuild. :shrugani:

NOTE: 7 more HP will require that you re-jet! Start out fat and work your way down from there......most of the issues that people have with any piston is jetting related.
