BansheeBoy347 Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 I was wondering if there is a tranny swap for my truck? Its a 04 silverado 5.3 and has the 4l60e in it right now, but im wanting a 5 or 6 speed manual. Does anybody know if there is a swap for this? Quote
5150banshee Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 I checked when I rebuilt my trans on my 05 2500hd Alison is the only 5 SPD and that's big $$$$ and from what I was told no 6 speeds. I did a Gm certa trans 3 yr 100,000 mile warranty drop off yours and pick up the new one se time ran me 2200 for the trans and 300 for my mechanic to swap. 2 day job Quote
BansheeBoy347 Posted August 18, 2012 Author Report Posted August 18, 2012 Ok so there is no 6 speed but there is a 5 speed? And is the gm certa trans a 5 speed? I hate a auto they just dont pull like a manual. Quote
Bad one ton Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 Wait you want to put the allison behind your 5.3? What gear ratio do you have in the diffs? What all are you pulling. Just wondering because a certa Allison can run 10g's. You might as well just buy a different truck. TON! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
hoppedupandcutdown Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 He wants to switch to a manual trans, but still, buy a different truck. Quote
BansheeBoy347 Posted August 19, 2012 Author Report Posted August 19, 2012 No I was just wondering if I could swap a 5 speed in it, I know the 4.8 had a 5 speed and wondered if I could put one in mine. I dont pull nothing with the truck but an auto feels sluggish in it and a manual is more fun. Quote
#1JUANstunna Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 A 5 speed will bolt right up but you need a bunch of other parts Quote
BansheeBoy347 Posted August 19, 2012 Author Report Posted August 19, 2012 Ok what other parts would I need? Im gonna be putting a cam in it this week, I already have a exhaust, airraid intake, tb spacer and a tune. Should I just keep my auto and put a stall in it? Quote
Nieskes Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 Is it 2wd? You will need all the linkage for the cluch if you convert it, and a new steering coulum if you dont want it half assed. Are you planning on racing the truck? You will want your cam to match the stall if you are planning on getting a new one. Quote
BansheeBoy347 Posted August 20, 2012 Author Report Posted August 20, 2012 Yea its a 2wd and yea I might go to the track some but its mostly gonna be a red light to red light truck. Im just wanting a good street truck thats runs good. Quote
Nieskes Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 3000 stall would be good for the street/track. Quote
