does this look familiar....please help

Yeah my spark plugs were backing there way out of the cylinders...which I heard or read that was called by detonation. Not really sure what causes that or how to stop it. I'm +4 timing, head milled equal to 21 domes and running 93

i would either go back to a stock head not milled, turn the timing back some or start running 50/50 race gas with pump

Just did a flush...poured oil in the crank and lifted the bike upright to let all the shavings come out. Seems to have did a good job. From what I can see anyway. Had my cylinder measured and its still in spec according to the rings. So not sure where the play could occur. Unless my rod is bad. Which my friend mentioned.

If his is the second skirt you have broke off of a piston you need to have someone look at that motor. Something is not right skirts do not break off from Detonation that is a clearance issue. Going to a 310 main jet is not the casue of this in my opioin.

Yeah I was considering close to the same method. I pulled my motor and was ready to flush it in the parts washer and use the air nozzle to ensure everything was good to go.

I am so glad I didn't .

I decided to do it the right way. I completely tore it down and the outside crank bearing had fragments melted into the race of the bearing.

There was no way in hell any flush or air was removing that shit.

Have to replace the bearing and reassemble. I would have ruined my crank , new pistons, and possibly trashed the entire engine.

Do yourself a favor and tear it down for inspection.
