Homemade spark arrestors?

Anybody ever made them for the powercore 2 silencers? Just found out where we're going to ride next weekend requires spark arrestors.. Could I just take the end caps off and take some wire screen and sandwich it between the tip and the can?

I eventually want to get some q's anyway. But this is just for now. I'll tell them I haven't done anything but put gas in it if they say anything. We used to ride there all the time and never saw anybody to check. But that was about 10 years ago

160 fine your call man, I personally hate them i think its a dumb law we usually slide them on our silencers and take them back off after we get in the dunes but if you get stopped its a garented ticket

Tried making some, didn't work as planned, so I'm just gonna ride as-is, I know some people that ride there and they told me today that they've never been stopped to have their bikes checked.. I'll end up ordering some Turbinecore's in the following weeks anyways,

I would try again. It would suck really bad if you went up and weren't able to ride because of some dumb spark arrestor law... 2 strokes don't even really backfire in rare cases they do but it's the 4 strokes that always do if there not jetted correctly

It is not a back fire they are worried about. It is a glowing pice of hot carbon they are worried about. So your 2 stroke is more suspetable than what a 4 stroke would be. As dry as it has been I would bet the DNR isnt going to be in a playing mood. If your running FMF pipes it is well worth the investment to get a set of Turbine Core II's. They have a really good design. A spark arrestor as to ethire trap a particle of a certian size or it has to break it down to a certian size. Screens do the traping. The FMF Tubine cores spin the exhaust smashing the carbon against the outer wall breaing it down in to smaller pieces.

The home made spark arrestors are hoaky at best.

#1 they smash the core tube down when you try to sandwich it between the tube and the end cap.

#2 There is a really small area of the screen for exhaust to flow though. The smaller area also makes for them to plug up faster.
