notsed
does anybody know how the 421 serval would like a 1:2 intake manifold? im switching from stock carbs and thinking i might try it. what would it be like compared to stock carbs? gotta_goatsfast
While you can try a single carb... experience with mild motors has led me to prefer two carburetors in every aspect. I feed my serval with two 35mm pwks and tuned properly and balanced it doesn't hiccup or stumble down low and pulls hard on top. If you're convinced this is too much carburetor, then my advice is to try two 28mm pwks. Snop has an old thread (it would take some digging) with dyno proof that two 28s work just as well as the single down low and pull away in the mid-top end. Trick2stroke
It's going to be a trade off, obviously a 2:1 carb is going to hurt performance over the duals, it's been proven. However, if you don't require every bit of HP for your riding style and would like the easier throttle pull then I don't see why it wouldn't work for you. Just depends on your goals. A larger motor like the serval would most likely take a 35-40mm carb with a dual pingle and oversized billet bowl to feed the motor without starving the carb and loosing intake velocity. Also try and stay with the old Graydon style 2:1 or Chariots unit. If power is your goal as mentioned a proper dual carb set up is what you want to be looking at. Why would you need a dual pingle if you only have 1 carb?
Trick2stroke
Good catch, I suppose what I was getting at is you need to make sure you're flowing enough fuel. Drill out the cap and stock petcock. Or just reverse the stock T and go 2 lines into 1.
Chariot Performance
We have a 4 mil serval with our 2 into 1 intake and 38 pwk. It also has the shearer 2 into 1 pipe. We have a raptor 700 shop bike as well. In the trails the torque and low end grunt of this banshee is almost as good as the raptor. Never have I had another setup on a banshee that was fun to ride in the woods. You can slow down almost to a crawl with no need to play with the clutch to get going again. That sounds like something I would like to ride lol
