BigNasty
As most of you know I sold a chassie about a week ago. Ok here goes; I sent it by YRC....the chassie made it in tact and the buyer is very happy he received it in one piece undamaged. Thing is when he received it the crate had 4 holes through the crate by a fork lift. Barely missing the chassie. We got extremely lucky. YRC was with most of the other freight carriers so I didn't take the lowes price, I just picked the one closest to the buyers residence for his convenience. I am going to see if I can get some pictures of the crate from the buyer to give to YRC. I am not very happy that the chassie could have been destroyed by someone that did not know how to handle it with a fork lift. So be warned guys and girls. Max. I am Editing this Post fyi. I am told it is a standard practice in the Shipping industry they do not offer additional insurance but you may request additional insurance. Example; If you ship a Drag Chassie and it is used they will cover it for .50 per pound if damaged, mine was insured. So beware folks and ask a lot of questions when shipping with ANY carrier or you could loose big time. I just feel lucky I don't have to try to deal with these folks on a claim, I can only imagine how that would go.

sprinklerman
Thanks for the heads up Big Nasty. sheerider11: Filing a false claim ( like you are suggesting) is one reason why we cant get REAL claims taken care of.
BigNasty
I edited my first Post in this Thread. I'm not out to gig a carrier, I just want all of us to be informed of how things are incase you do not know. You have to ask for additional insurance they will not offer it to you most likely. The lady told me it happens.....wow it happens a lot I supose.... Max.
hoppedupandcutdown
rule #1 ALWAYS open and inspect thoroughly while the driver is standing there. Don't let them be in a big hurry to leave. Usually if you sign for it and then find out it's damaged you are S.O.L. I have alot of auto body parts shipped to my shop and FRAGILE means "step here" I can't tell you how many hood I've gotten with boot prints in them. BigRed350x
if the frame were damaged, I would go rent a forklift and drive it through the side of the company owners vehicle.
locogato11283
if the frame were damaged, I would go rent a forklift and drive it through the side of the company owners vehicle. And people think I'm loco?!

BigNasty
Wow some how I am not impressed with the freight carriers. I took a Transfer Case Core to be returned for credit. When they picked it up with the fork lift they used no care at all. This was AAA Cooper this time. I am wondering how anything gets through in one piece.........I will be suprised if it makes it in tact to be honest.
