Switching form 26mm to 34mm mikuni.

Recommended Posts

Im switching from stock carbs with 30 pilots and 330 mains with alba needles in the middle clip. Im going with a set of 34mm mikuni carbs and would like an idea on what jets i should start with, I have a stock stroke ,stock cylinder with a dune port. I have my timing set at +4 and have 155 psi compression. Any advice would be great, I know the main jet size will actually be smaller which i dont understand but im not sure how much smaller.

Those carbs will come out of the box with a 280 main, 5fp17 needle, 389q2 needle jet and 50 pilots.

Start with the 280 mains, move the needle to the 4th clip and put in a set of 40 pilots in. That should get you close, tune from there. You may want to go to a 389q0 jet needle and/or run the needle in the leanest clip.
