Rid yourself of that stupid boost bottle and tune the carbs. In fact, just do a tune up in general. While its possible he might just be a better rider, it could be mechanical such as slipping clutch, air leak, incorrect jetting, fouled plugs, ect....

i had a guy tell me to smash the boost with hammer lol

Other than double checking the sprocket counts and jetting, air box lid or not, etc., I wouldn't believe there would be a noticable difference from pipe brands, I notice mine looses a ton of bottom end when the pipes need packed.

i counted sprocket and tire size tonight and they are booth 14/41 and 20 inch tires and his is all stock jetting and mine is 30 pilot and 330 main i think id have to double check the main also his has no packing in and my packing is good and his has fatory air box and mine has k@n

330/30 is pretty big for just fmf pipes.

now if he has pods and maybe reeds those numbers would be better.

it has boyesen reeds in it also k@n pods but i will for shure try different jets and also i live on Iowa Missouri bourder if that helps with elevation any ??
