I got the tors removal kit due to the faulty TORS that were on there . I set the idle where the cables meet the cap to the carbs . I can move the handlebars both directions fully and do not have a increase in Rpm's . I moved the quad around making sure that it doesn't snag and all seems good . I did get the idle screw kit as well but hesitant to install due to the risk of f**king it up . sheerider11 Posted July 14, 2012 Report Share Posted July 14, 2012 Just put the screw in. Its hard to fuck up. Put a broom handle in the carb so you don't blast through and smash the other sides. When you start riding, things will shift around and your idle will be all over the place,not to mention that the cable will stretch and you will be contiually adjusting the cable to make it idle. Just install the idle screws and be done with it. All you have to do is start small with the drill bit and work up to the correct size, you may want to be slightly on the small side when you start tapping the holes. tarmacsti Posted July 14, 2012 Report Share Posted July 14, 2012 I think the tap is the most risky and important part of this, but when you drill the hole make triple sure you dont move the drill other than up and down, if you move it to either side you making the hole bigger and not deeper! Also dont lean on the drill, go slowly... When you tap the hole, treat it like a premenstrual female with fish hooks for fingers is cupping your nuts! Banshee Chad Posted July 15, 2012 Report Share Posted July 15, 2012 I ride full throttle only, so I did away with the carbs all together and have the fuel lines running right into the intake. Plus is saves weight... Reality... I messed up when taping one, took the tap in too far and the threads got smashed. I filled with jb weld, re drilled and taped.. has held for a couple years. So when the threads on the tap stop... You stop, they are far enough. I read that u had to make threads all the way into the carb... I ran it on the track yesterday and hit some trails and it preformed great . still havent put the idle screws in but hasn't affected anything yet . I Will get it done soon though . already have the hardware and all . Being a welder and fabricator tapping seems easy enough ,done this kind of thing many times before .its just that the instructions state they have been getting complaints of folks cracking open the tunnel were the screw goes . that is why i am concerned . If you use the correct size drill bit, you shouldn't run into the issue with cracking anything. 1. Make sure to use the correct drill bit. Put something into the slide opening to prevent damaging the other side once you go through. 2. Make the tap is tappered. Makes it easier to start for a through hole application. 3. Use some form of cutting oil. WD40, motor oil, trans fliud, etc. It's soft aluminum so it's not a big deal. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
