break in advise

You're going to get a whole bunch of differing opinions on this subject but when it comes right down to it if it's been assembled correctly you're pretty much good to go. However, I personally prefer to do a couple of 15 minute cycles at low to moderate speeds letting it cool down completely in between and re-torquing the head after the second run. I should also add, usually at some point during the second cycle I'll end up running it WFO, I mean really who can stay off the gas that long. I have run 'em WFO right out of the gate also with no problems, just depends really on how confident you are in the person who assembled it.

I usually burn threw a tank on and off the throttle and time between letting it cool down and check head and plugs. U don't have to baby it but I just don't get on it and full throttle or just head up racing at comp

after its first start up, get it to operating temp, either by blipping the throttle or ride it around a little going through the gears. (dont let it sit there and idle) then park it. the next day re torque the head and base nuts. then go ride.

some people run a few tanks through, some thrash them from the start.

Lol thanks guys. So there's no amount of hrs after its jetted that I have to baby it or keep checking every nut and bolt?

No. I baby it for a little just to listen if I hear anything out of the ordinary. Then go. I'll stop later to double check everything but that is about it.

I let it warm up a little first, then ride it around until it reaches normal operation temps. Then I ride it hard as hell thru all gears WOT.... I was told by a site sponsor the harder you ride it from a fresh rebuild the better the rings seats. IMO that is true from first hand experience. Honestly I think you should break the bike in the way you are going to be riding it. :shrugani: Sort of like a woman, your getting her use to what she will be handling. :D

Of course after it cools down go back over engine & make sure everything is torqued to spec. & your done.
