252wheelieking
Next build will probably be stroked and cubs or something anyways. Bottom end is already nearly 8 years old now. Freshen it up with a Hot Rods 4mil crank, dune port from any site sponsor, 21cc domes cut for 4mil, sell the T-6's & buy T-5's. You will be very happy with that set-up & will be waiting for your friends craptor to catch up on alot of your trail rides. You should be in the 70HP range with that set-up since numbers matter. Banshee's are not expensive in my eyes, they are just addictive which leads to wanting more upgrades & that's what's expensive.

Won't be spending much more on it for a while though, this is the first top end rebuild it's had. I'm half way through it so a bit late for stroker cranks and port jobs. I might just get some Alba +2 A-arms for it next and that will do for a couple of years.
RagunCajun
A cub(drag race cylinder) for the trails? And with that added power, there might be a possibility of a lockup then an override. But there's many people who use something like the fast clutch and shift their bikes fine without an override or lock up. A little ported 4mil on stock juggs makes for a very fun bike. The power can come on very smooth with right carbs and pipes. I like mine so much, I'm going to build another banshee if I want to step it up. If I rode a lot of trails, I'd do better suspension before added any more power. Edited July 9, 2012 by RagunCajun
RagunCajun
Just warning the guy about having a power delivery that is all top end. I hate that for woods. Yes some do run it like that.
SpecialEd 05
if not cubs, what would be more suitable? Or just some sort of trail port on stock jugs? Yeah probably do the suspension before then anyway. What are Alba +2" like? I like the idea of being able to run the stock shocks then upgrade them later. Any other suggestions? gotta_goatsfast
With a little patience you can usually find sweet deals in the for FOR SALE section. I picked up +2+1 arms, top quality shocks, YFZ brakes, and some other odds and ends for half the price of new. The suspension allows me to control the 421's power. I wouldn't want to ride a banshee with that motor on stock suspension components. While the suspension won't make you much faster in a drag race, it WILL make you faster than any bolt on motor mod on any hair scramble, MX riding, black diamond trails, ect..... trickedcarbine
First, that banshee is far cheaper and easier to coax power out of then any four stroke. A 4 mm stroker and porting is a 70ish horse combo that will always be ahead of almost any 4 poke. (not all 4 strokes though, there are some beasts lurking) just try making 60 horse on a Honda 450 for what it costs to do the same with a banshee. Not to mention it isnt a matter of if, but when a motor goes. Just compare the cost of rebuilding any poker to a 2 stroke twin. Yeah it costs money to get that thing going, but I dare you to sell it and buy a stock 450 and go ride with your buds built rappy. You probably wouldn't be to stoked on the result. Just do some research and make sure you figure out what combos are out there that really work. There are plenty 350 motors out there that make people very happy. But like I said, do research. DO NOT just slap parts that you like together with out knowing how part A works with Part B.

Colby
take your engine out, ship it to Herr Jugs Racing, call and tell him what you want/how much money you want to spend, he'll ship it back in a few weeks, you re-install, and everything will be A-OK! Yeah that's on the other side of the world from here, probably not that cost effective. I think I'll just settle for where it's at right now and maybe some better carbs. Probably best to work on the suspension next like people have said. Thanks for the advice everybody. trickedcarbine
We do have another Aussie on here. His name is Dirtydownunder. See if he is close to ya so you can speak in person with some one who has already been there done that on a banshee. He has a pretty trick motor. Also, you could buy cylinders from here in the states, drop ship them to a builder here to port. Then get everything you need shipped to you and have zero down time other then how long it takes you to build them. Then sell your cyls to an Aussie for top dollar because he wasn't smart enough to come to BHQ for a solution.
BUILDER
Good Lord where the hell are you guys coming up with these numbers you are giving this poor dude??? I have a bone stock banshee that my daughter rides the only motor mod it has is a cut stock head. It has LRD pipes on it with dual K&N filters and 4 degrees of timing and it makes 55hp on the dyno every pull. I would say your numbers are just a slight bit off. I bet I could hit 100hp with my 421 serval on your dyno.

I haven't spoken to him in person but I have on here. Yes BHQ is the place for Banshee advice that's for sure. These will be future plans, I've rebuilt the engine now. But except for the pipes I've tried to build it to allow for later upgrades. I really do appreciate the advice on here though. Everything I've done to it so far I've researched on here first. Thanks.
