SpecialEd 05
Just wondering if anybody could tell me what this combo should be making. Is anybody running a similar setup? Stock size bore, stock porting, Wiseco Pro-Lites, Chariot head with 21cc domes, +4 timing plate, Toomey T6's, V-Force 3's, 320 main jets for lid off, Pro Design billet manifolds and Pro-Flow foam filter intake running 98 octane. Jereme6655
My guess would be somewhere in the 40-45 range but I'm thinking cloer to the
SpecialEd 05
So you're telling me after I've spent all this time and money it will be putting out about the same as a stock Raptor? It used to keep up with a 48hp Raptor with only pipes, reeds and 280 jets. Edited July 8, 2012 by SpecialEd
RagunCajun
Drag racing has a lot more to do than numbers. My buddy has a Kawasaki 450 drag bike around 45-50hp. It would destroy your average piped banshee.
Jereme6655
Well pipes are about the biggest hp mod that you have currently. Sure the domes and the air filter help....but only a little. The reeds are more of a throttle response improver. The real power that makes these things go comes from porting. Stock porting is what really causes the motor to stay so restricted. If you get it ported (depending what type of port job = how much power and when it comes on) it will wake that bike up......could possibly see from 55-65 hp afterwards depending on setup. An optimistic 40hp if you spent the extra effort fine tuning the ignition and carburetors.
SpecialEd 05
Ok, so I've made 5hp. Woot! Best cut my losses and get rid of this thing before I spend too much money on it.

I road mine for years with what you have, and loved it. with what you have now you should eat piped 4 pokes. you should be proud to own the badest quad ever built! gotta_goatsfast
Ok, so I've made 5hp. Woot! Best cut my losses and get rid of this thing before I spend too much money on it. I suppose so. These bikes are so expensive/difficult to make any real power. Better get a 4 stroke. First off, how do you know you've only made 5whp difference? Secondly, you haven't done any REAL performance mods. A skilled port job and the supporting mods (lose those T6 pipes) will make a hell of a difference on a budget. And there's always suspension upgrades.
mike0chek
yep spend 300-400 bucks and get that thing ported, you will not regret it...
thomas h.
Port it or dyno it to prove us wrong then port it. All banshee"s get ported at some point.
SpecialEd 05
Yeah I guess you're right, it's not about numbers. It gave me a buzz before so it should go even better now right? I couldn't go to a 4 stoke anyway, just don't enjoy them as much. I just thought it would put out a bit more than that. I will later on down the track put some PWK's on it but I really like the T6's which is why I have stuck with them. If it eats my friends piped and tuned Raptor with 50.5hp I'll be happy. I guess eventually I will need to go to something more suitable, any suggestions?

SpecialEd 05
porting the jugs will really wake it up Next build will probably be stroked and cubs or something anyways. Bottom end is already nearly 8 years old now.
